CSIE supports CSIE (IITM) Academic Contribution category of Villgro awards .

 

About CSIE (IITM) Academic Contribution Award:

Academic Contribution Award recognizes and felicitates individuals in the academia who have made a contribution in India through research, educational programs and/or practical initiatives (incubators, business plan competitions, technical projects, etc), contributing to practical understanding and advances in development-relevant knowledge, during the last 2 years.

Who can apply or be nominated:
Individuals in the Academia (professors, researchers, deans) who have made a contribution to understanding social entrepreneurship in India through research (papers, articles, books, etc), educational programs (courses, workshops, conferences, etc) and/or practical initiatives (incubators, business plan competitions, technical projects, etc), contributing to practical understanding and advances in development-relevant knowledge, between Jan 2011 and Dec 2012.

 

About Villgro Awards:

Villgro Awards celebrates 5 categories: Academic Contribution, Journalist, Investor, Incubator and Innovative Enterprise. With new partnership between Villgro and Intellecap for the Sankalp Unconvention Summit 2013, the largest Social Entrepreneurship conference in Asia with over 1000 delegates, the Villgro Awards is an important initiative to celebrate achievements and inspire more engagement in the sector.

 

Finalists and Winner 2013:

Nominations/applications for the award were open till 17 Feb 2013.

Finalists are:

  • Dr. Rama Krishna Reddy Kummitha, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai
  • Prof. Satyajit Majumdar, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai
  • Prof. C. Shambu Prasad, Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar
  • Mr. Ajay Dixit, Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, Ahmedabad

Winner of the award will be announced at Sankalp Unconvention Forum on 17 Apr 2013.

 

Previous finalists and winner (2011):

CSIE instituted "CSIE (IITM)-Villgro Academic Contribution award" at Unconvention 2011 by Villgro.

Nominations for the award were open on the website of Unconvention, and various academic institutions and research centers were also invited to nominate themselves. Nominations were open till 31 Oct 2011

Based on the criteria, finalists were:

  • Prof Harish Chaudhary, IIT BHU
  • Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, BITS Pilani
  • SHARE, IIT Roorkee
  • Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Rural Industrialization (MGIRI), Wardha
  • The Base of Pyramid Distribution Challenge (Rural Market Insights), CDF-IFMR

Prof Madhukar Shukla, XLRI was the winner of the award.
